Hello everyone!  My name is Aimeé and I am here to tell you about my journey and struggle with this horrific, and at times fascinating, disorder that I have.  Trichotemnomania.  The compulsive cutting or shaving of one's own hair.  When I say compulsive, I mean that I really can't stop myself.  I am compelled to complete the mission.

For me, it started around the age of 31, while caught up in an emotionally / psychologically abusive relationship and seemed to have been triggered immediately following a haircut that I did not like.  From that point forward, I have spent endless hours in attempts to "fix" what seems to me to be "uneven" or "asymmetrical."

Just a heads up, some of my posts could be a potential trigger for some of you, as I will get into detail about some topics that could cause discomfort.  Please just know that beforehand.  I will do my best to preface them with a "trigger warning" somewhere in the title.

Other than that, please keep in mind that I am not a medical professional and none of my opinions or experiences are to be construed as advice, suggestions, labels or diagnoses.  Please always seek the help of a medical professional if you are in doubt as to any aspect of your health!

Thank you for joining me, and I look forward to receiving your comments and feedback!
